Three tracks, one doctorate
The online Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc) degree at University of Bridgeport is a 57-credit program including core courses, a specialized track, electives, and a graduate project or dissertation. There is a four-week online doctoral residency at the end of the program, and three 12-credit tracks to choose from.
Clinician
Clinician track
For practitioners deepening their expertise in evidence-based care.
By earning your Doctor of Health Sciences degree you will develop the skills and experience needed to lead healthcare centers, write public health policy, and educate future public health professionals at the college level.
Education
Education track
For those preparing to teach future public health professionals at the college level.
In UB’s online DHSc program you will learn from expert clinicians, healthcare providers, and public health professionals.
Nutrition
Nutrition track
For those specializing in nutrition within the health sciences.
Each track is 12 credits and sits alongside the core courses, electives, and the graduate project or dissertation.
Dissertation
Your research
For your dissertation you will choose your area of interest.
Once approved, you will work with your dissertation committee advisor to conduct either original research, a literature review, a meta-analysis, or a systemic review.
Entirely online, three start dates a year
In this flexible degree program, all your coursework is completed entirely online. We understand you are a busy working professional. By earning your Doctor of Health Sciences online you will be able to continue working while advancing your career in the Health Sciences. We offer three start dates per year: spring, fall, and summer. At UB, you can earn your doctorate in just over three years.

Program prerequisites
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher, or a first professional doctorate from a regionally accredited institution and professionally accredited program of study
- Healthcare experience, professional credentials, or licensure in a health-related field is preferred
- Applicants without health care experience will be evaluated on their potential for success, such as significant leadership in education, health sciences, nutrition, and the clinical environment.

- Personal statement of 500 words or more detailing your reasons for wanting to undertake doctoral studies at University of Bridgeport, your most significant personal and professional accomplishments to date as well as accomplishments you hope to achieve in the field with a doctoral degree, and a detailed description of your potential research topic

- International transcripts must include an official course-by-course evaluation of all academic work from an accredited academic evaluating service.
