Where is the Heckman Learning Commons located?
The Heckman Learning Commons is located on the second floor of the Wahlstrom Library in the heart of campus. Our welcome desk is directly accessible from the main central stairs or elevator.
Are tutoring and writing center services free?
Yes! All peer tutoring, professional subject tutoring, and writing studio sessions are completely free of charge for all enrolled University of Bridgeport undergraduate and graduate students.
How do I make an appointment with my Academic Advisor?
You can schedule an appointment with your assigned advisor directly through your MyUB Student Portal, or by stopping by the Heckman Center reception desk Monday through Friday.
Can I drop in for tutoring without an appointment?
Yes. While scheduled appointments guarantee time with a specific subject tutor, the Tutoring Center and Writing Studio accommodate walk-ins based on daily tutor availability.
How do I request testing accommodations for a learning disability?
Students seeking academic accommodations must register with Accessibility Services by submitting documentation. Once approved, accommodation letters are generated and testing appointments can be reserved in the Testing Center.
