How to Prepare for Your Advising Appointment
Advising is an active, collaborative partnership. Prior to scheduling your mandatory pre-registration advising appointment each term, complete these preparatory steps to make the most of your consultation:nnReview your Degree Works evaluation to see which degree requirements are pending, draft a tentative schedule of courses in Student Planning, and write down any questions regarding prerequisites or graduation timelines.

How do I find out who my assigned academic advisor is?
Your advisor’s name and contact information are displayed on the home dashboard of your MyUB portal and at the top of your Degree Works audit.
When do I need to meet with my advisor for registration clearance?
All undergraduate students must meet with their academic advisor prior to the registration window opening in November (for spring courses) and April (for summer and fall courses).
How do I change my major or declare a minor?
Submit a Change of Major/Minor form through the Registrar’s portal with your advisor’s signature. Your advisor will help you map out previously earned credits toward your new program.
What should I do if I am placed on academic probation?
Immediately schedule an academic recovery conference with your Heckman advisor. We will build an Academic Success Contract, connect you with weekly tutoring, and develop study strategies to return to good standing.
