Every program here shares one conviction: healthcare is learned by treating people. That belief shapes the clinics, the classrooms, and the way our schools work together.
Real patients, on campus
Our acupuncture, chiropractic, and dental hygiene clinics serve the Bridgeport community. Students deliver that care under licensed supervision — clinical hours built into the degree, not chased after it.
Inter-professional by design
Nutrition students learn beside chiropractic students; public health beside nursing. It mirrors how modern care teams actually operate, and it is unusual to find at this scale.
Evidence-based, and stackable
Programs are built around research literacy and outcomes — and stack: earn a DC alongside an MS in Nutrition or Acupuncture, or use a 4+1 track to finish a bachelor’s and master’s in five years.
The building where students become clinicians
Three teaching clinics sit on our campus, open to the public and staffed by students under licensed faculty supervision. Patients come from across Fairfield County for acupuncture, chiropractic care, and dental hygiene services at reduced cost. For the community, it is affordable care. For our students, it is the difference between having read about a treatment and having delivered one, many times over, before graduation.

School of Nursing
Whether you are starting out, already an RN, or changing careers entirely, there is an entry point — including an accelerated BSN for degree holders and two fully online tracks.
Fones School of Dental Hygiene
Established in 1949 and accredited since 1953, Fones is the first school of dental hygiene in Connecticut — and the world. Students still train in the on-campus clinic, treating community patients, through an associate, bachelor’s, or online master’s pathway.
Acupuncture Institute
One of the longest-running acupuncture programs in the United States, with a teaching clinic where students treat community patients throughout their training.
School of Health Professions
The college’s broadest school: bench science, medical coding, advanced clinical practice, and research-focused doctoral study.
School of Chiropractic
A full DC program with a campus clinic and the option to add an MS in Nutrition or Acupuncture concurrently — a combination few schools offer.
Physician Assistant Institute
An intensive graduate program preparing PAs for one of the fastest-growing clinical roles in American healthcare.
Nutrition Institute
Fully online graduate study in nutrition, available on its own or paired with the Doctor of Chiropractic as a dual degree.
College-wide programs
Two programs that draw on the whole college — including a BS in Health Sciences with four majors and 4+1 options into a master’s.

Nursing, dental hygiene, health sciences, and medical laboratory science all admit first-year students — with clinic hours built into the curriculum.

The Accelerated BSN and the 4+1 tracks are built for people who already finished a bachelor’s and want to move into healthcare quickly.

RN to BSN, MSN, MPH, and the MS in Nutrition are online. The DHSc and DC are for practitioners moving into advanced or independent practice.

On behalf of the students, faculty, and administration, I am pleased to welcome you to University of Bridgeport’s College of Health Sciences — an integrated body of healthcare programs committed to educating leaders in healthcare.
The College is composed of highly acclaimed schools and institutes: the Acupuncture Institute, the School of Chiropractic, the Fones School of Dental Hygiene, the School of Nursing, the Physician Assistant Institute, the Nutrition Institute, and the School of Health Professions.
Learning here is inter-professional, evidence-based, and patient-centered. We focus on overall wellness through community health education, exercise science, nutrition, and health science research. Our on-campus clinics provide acupuncture, chiropractic, and dental hygiene services to the community — and give our students the clinical experience that defines their education.
