Curriculum
One track, dual focus
The online MSN in Leadership and Education program is a one-track, dual-focused online master’s degree program. The dual focus of leadership and education will provide graduates with career opportunities to work in clinical leadership and academic nursing environments, either in separate positions or simultaneously in a joint position.
Credits
Complete a minimum of 30 graduate level credits in the MSN program at UB.
Academic standing
Maintain a GPA of 3.0 while in the program.
Practicum
Complete the required 120 hours of practicum experience, and maintain an active, unrestricted nursing license throughout your clinical and practicum courses.
Time limit
Complete the degree requirements within 5 years from matriculation into the program.

- International applicants should consult the international admission requirements page for additional requirements, or contact an admissions officer with specific questions.
Transfer credits
- Graduate students with a BSN transferring from another institution can apply for admission.
- The transfer of master’s level courses from another university will be individually reviewed for possible course credit, but only if 30 graduate-level credits are completed here at University of Bridgeport and if equal content and level of coursework are confirmed for each course.
Bridging the academic and practice divide
The Nursing Leadership and Education master’s degree at University of Bridgeport is a new degree model designed to prepare nurses with expertise in organizational and systems leadership with adult learning theory and teaching methods that can improve outcomes in patients, communities and global healthcare environments. Leadership and education are currently two areas in desperate need of graduate level nurses to align leadership skills with nurse educator knowledge in order to synthesize and strengthen the nurse of tomorrow. A broader range of nursing expertise is needed to cross the divide between academia and practice. Graduates from this innovative graduate program will lead interdisciplinary teams to advance the transformation of healthcare.
