Submit your free application
Apply online through the University of Bridgeport application portal or via the Common Application. There is never an application fee.
Submit official college transcripts
Request official academic transcripts from every college or university you have attended. If you have completed fewer than 12 college credits, also submit your high school transcript.
Receive your credit evaluation and decision
Admissions decisions are delivered on a rolling basis. Your official transfer credit evaluation and automatic merit scholarship review are completed at the same time.
Transfer Scholarships and Financial Support
Transfer students are automatically considered for generous renewable merit scholarships upon admission, with no separate scholarship application required.
Automatic Merit Awards
Transfer merit scholarships are awarded based on your cumulative college GPA and are renewable annually for full-time study.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Recognition
Active members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society receive an additional dedicated institutional scholarship to honor their academic achievement.

What is the minimum grade required for a course to transfer?
Courses completed with a grade of C (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or higher from regionally accredited institutions are generally eligible for transfer credit, provided they align with your degree requirements.
When can I apply to transfer?
University of Bridgeport operates on rolling admissions. You can apply for entry in either the fall semester (August start) or spring semester (January start). We recommend applying at least six weeks before the semester begins.
Is housing available for transfer students?
Yes. University of Bridgeport offers guaranteed on-campus housing for full-time undergraduate transfer students in our residence halls across campus.
Are transfer students eligible for financial aid and scholarships?
Yes. Transfer applicants are automatically considered for renewable merit scholarships at the time of admission. You are also eligible for federal and state financial aid by submitting the FAFSA with UB school code 001416.
Can I transfer if I have already earned a bachelor's degree?
Yes. Students seeking a second bachelor’s degree, such as our Accelerated BSN (ABSN) in Nursing or a second degree in Computer Science, are welcomed and evaluated for applicable prerequisite credits.
