Handshake connects UB students and alumni to thousands of verified employers, paid internships, full-time positions, and career events. All enrolled students receive a pre-activated Handshake account via their UB Single Sign-On credentials.
How do I schedule an appointment with a career coach?
You can book 1-on-1 virtual or in-person career appointments directly through Handshake by selecting ‘Career Center’ and clicking ‘Appointments’, or by calling 203-576-4466.
When should I start visiting Career Development?
We encourage students to visit Career Development during their first semester! Early engagement allows you to explore career paths, refine your resume, and qualify for competitive internships early in your academic journey.
Can alumni use Career Development services?
Yes! University of Bridgeport offers career counseling, Handshake access, resume critiques, and job search support to all UB alumni for life.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring a copy of your current resume (even if incomplete or in high school format), a list of industries or companies of interest, and any questions about internships or career directions.
How can employers connect with UB students?
Employers can post jobs and internships directly to our students via Handshake, register for our biannual campus Career Fairs, or contact careerdev@bridgeport.edu to organize on-campus info sessions.
