Registration Roadmap & Provider Standards

Accommodation Registration & Guidelines

Clear, transparent instructions on how to register with Student Accessibility Services, submit qualifying medical documentation, and activate semester accommodations.

Proactive Registration Recommended

Accommodations are never retroactive. To ensure accommodations, testing adjustments, or housing considerations are active on day one of the semester, we strongly encourage submitting documentation at least 3 weeks prior to the start of classes.

Ongoing Support

Semester Accommodation Renewal

Accommodations do not automatically transmit to new course instructors at the start of each semester.

Returning students must log into their SAS portal during the first two weeks of each term to request their updated Accommodation Letters for their new schedule of classes. Once generated, students discuss implementation with their professors.

  • Simple 2-minute online renewal process at the start of each term
  • No need to resubmit medical documentation for permanent conditions
  • Schedule a follow-up consultation if accommodations need to be added or adjusted
  • Mid-semester adjustments supported if academic demands or health needs evolve
Who pays for the cost of obtaining medical documentation?

The student is responsible for any fees associated with obtaining medical evaluations or psychological testing from their private healthcare provider.

Can I request accommodations for temporary conditions like a broken arm?

Yes! SAS provides temporary accommodations (such as peer note-takers, scribe assistance, and campus shuttle access) for students recovering from surgeries or injuries.

What if a professor refuses to provide my approved accommodations?

Contact Student Accessibility Services immediately. Our coordinators will contact the instructor and academic department chair to resolve any implementation hurdles.
