First Visit Guide
What to Expect at Your Acupuncture Appointment
A relaxed, thorough 90-minute initial intake followed by 60-minute follow-up treatments.
Intake & Diagnostic Evaluation
Your intern and faculty clinician review your medical history, discuss symptoms, and conduct tongue and pulse diagnostic evaluations.
Treatment Plan Formulation
A personalized meridian strategy is designed, explaining needle placements and whether cupping or heat therapy is indicated.
Gentle Needle Placement
Ultra-thin sterile needles are inserted into targeted points. Most patients feel only a tiny tingling sensation or deep relaxation.
Rest, Relaxation & Home Care
You rest peacefully in a private treatment room for 25–30 minutes, followed by gentle needle removal and lifestyle guidance.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people feel very little to no discomfort when acupuncture needles are inserted. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine — about the thickness of a human hair. Patients frequently report a feeling of mild tingling, warmth, or profound physical relaxation.
How many sessions will I need?
Acute conditions (like recent muscle strains) often respond in 2 to 4 sessions. Chronic conditions (such as multi-year back pain or autoimmune challenges) typically require 6 to 10 treatments to achieve sustained therapeutic relief.
What are the treatment fees?
Our clinic offers community-friendly pricing significantly below typical private practice costs ($30–$45 per session), with additional discount rates for University of Bridgeport students, faculty, staff, and military veterans.
