Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Biology
BA/BS Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science
Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science tracks in Biology, with an Education minor pathway to teaching grades 4-12 and a Pre-Physician Assistant concentration.
Think big. Study life. Go far.
Two tracks, one field
Biologists are the bold thinkers and problem-solvers who ask life’s biggest questions. From decoding DNA to protecting the planet, biology powers some of the most exciting breakthroughs in medicine, environmental science, and technology. When you pursue your bachelor’s degree in Biology at UB, you can choose from one of two academic tracks.
Bachelor of Arts
A biology career beyond the microscope
A BA in Biology provides a solid foundation in the life sciences, paving a professional pathway for aspiring educators, science communicators, entrepreneurs, and more.
This is right for you if you believe in the power of learning, enjoy working with the public, love teaching and inspiring others, are craving a biology career that goes beyond the microscope, and are passionate about science.
Bachelor of Science
A rigorous, lab-focused curriculum
A BS in Biology is designed for students with big goals, whether you are aiming to become a doctor, veterinarian, physician assistant, research scientist, or beyond.
This is right for you if you are curious about how the human body works, are passionate about making a difference through medicine or research, are planning to apply to medical, dental, or PA programs, thrive in hands-on lab environments, and want a degree that opens doors to advanced careers in science and healthcare.
Education minor
Shape the next generation
Many students pair their BA in Biology with a minor in Education, creating a smooth pathway to a Master of Science in Secondary Education.
This combination prepares you to earn certification to teach Biology in grades 4-12. With hands-on classroom practicum experiences and customizable electives, you will graduate confident, qualified, and ready to inspire the next generation of scientists.
Pre-PA concentration
A route toward physician assistant school
UB’s Pre-Physician Assistant concentration includes tailored coursework and advising to meet the prerequisites for PA school.
With access to cutting-edge lab facilities and one-on-one support from expert faculty, you will graduate prepared and PA-school ready. Please note that completing the Pre-PA concentration does not guarantee admission to University of Bridgeport’s Physician Assistant Institute.
Curriculum
What you will study
