Curriculum
Practice over theory
In the Computer Engineering Technology degree program you will gain the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to prepare for a rewarding career in design, application, installation, programming, networking, and computer system operation. This program emphasizes the application and implementation of computer technology.
Practical skills, not just theory
While many Computer Engineering Technology programs focus on the theory and design of computer technology, this program gives you the practical skills to develop, install, and maintain computer networks and systems. You will take courses in applied mathematics.
Networks and security
You will gain experience in project management, network analysis, network security, and mobile communications.
A final-year design project
Your final year culminates with a design project where you apply these skills in both technical and non-technical environments. You will work with peers and industry experts to identify and analyze problems and implement solutions in a technology environment.
Tailor the degree
You will have the opportunity to choose computer engineering electives and tailor your degree to meet your personal and professional goals.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Students transferring from Norwalk Community College’s Technology Studies AS degree should ask about the NCC-UB articulation agreement.
First-year applicants
- An application for admission. The University accepts both paper and electronic applications, as well as the Common Application.
- An official high school transcript
- SAT or ACT Scores
- Two letters of recommendation (recommended)
- Personal statement (recommended)
- The application fee will be waived for all students, graduate and undergraduate.
- International applicants should consult our international admission requirements, or contact an admissions officer with specific questions.
Transfer applicants
- An application for admission. The University accepts both paper and electronic applications, as well as the Common Application.
- Official college transcript(s) from all previous institutions of higher education attended.
- Proof of high school graduation (official high school transcript or copy of high school diploma).
- Two letters of recommendation (recommended)
- Personal statement (recommended)

NCC-UB articulation
- Transfer credits from Norwalk Community College’s Technology Studies AS degree to UB’s Computer Engineering Technology BS degree.
- Course equivalencies include MAT 254, PHY 122, CSC 108, CSC 226, and CSC 241.
- 16 technical elective credits, four courses.
