Search for ‘LiveSafe’ in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install the free mobile application.
Select University of Bridgeport
Open the app, enter your email or mobile phone number, and select ‘University of Bridgeport’ as your primary institution.
Enable Location & Notifications

Severe Weather Protocols & Staggered Openings
Class Cancellations & University Closures
Decisions regarding weather-related closures are made by the President’s Cabinet in consultation with Campus Safety by 6:00 a.m. for morning classes and by 2:00 p.m. for evening classes. Notifications are immediately broadcast via UB Alert, website banners, and local TV channels (WFSB, WTNH, NBC CT).
Delayed Opening Schedules
When a 10:00 a.m. delayed opening is announced, classes scheduled prior to 10:00 a.m. are cancelled. Classes beginning at or after 10:00 a.m. will run on their normal time. Essential personnel (Campus Safety, Facilities, Dining) report as designated.
Residential Dining & Clinic Services During Weather Events
Marina Dining Hall maintains continuous food service for residential students during storm closures. UB Clinics and clinical training rotations follow specialized departmental safety protocols.
How do parents and family members sign up for UB Alerts?
Parents and community members can opt in to emergency notifications by downloading the LiveSafe app and selecting ‘UB Community Member’ or following university official social media feeds.
How often is the UB Alert system tested?
Campus Safety conducts full functional tests of the SMS, email, and outdoor siren alert system at the beginning of each semester to verify system readiness.
What happens when I press the button on a Blue Light call box?
Pushing the red button instantly flashes an ultra-bright strobe light on top of the tower, sounds an alert, and establishes a direct two-way speaker line to 24/7 Campus Safety dispatch.
