Advanced professional work in the field
The Computer Engineering MS degree program is a course of study intended to prepare individuals whose undergraduate background is in computer or electrical engineering for advanced professional work in the field and for further study leading to the doctorate.
A 30-credit curriculum from fall 2026
Starting fall 2026, this program will have a 30-credit curriculum and ENGR 400 will not be required. Please contact Admissions for more information.
Depth in the discipline
You will demonstrate an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of computer engineering, building on an undergraduate background in computer or electrical engineering.
A route to the Ph.D.
The program prepares you for further study leading to the doctorate, including UB’s own Computer Science and Engineering Ph.D.
Stipends and scholarships
The Graduate Merit Award helps deserving students meet the financial obligations of pursuing a graduate degree. Graduate assistantships, research assistantships, and student worker employment are also available for qualified students.

Program prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited university or recognized international institution
- Recommended cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.90 or higher

- To be considered for a scholarship, you must submit transcripts from each institution attended.
- In certain cases the GRE can be waived based on previous academic performance. After submitting your application and all other required documents you may be admitted without the GRE, or our admissions staff will contact you if the GRE is required for a decision.
A STEM-designated degree
The MS degrees offered by the School of Engineering at University of Bridgeport are classified by ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) degrees. All international students who earn an MS degree are eligible for twelve months of OPT (Optional Practical Training). At the end of those twelve months, the student and the company the student works for can apply for an extension of twenty-four additional months of work, as long as the company is an E-verify company. In summary, a graduate with an MS degree can work under OPT in the USA for a total of thirty-six months. For more information, visit International Student Services.
